Apply fields from a template to a newly uploaded document using our Template Rules from your Templates tab. Automatically prompt a pop up window triggered by a specific keyword in the title of the file name when uploading the document to Foxit eSign. Foxit eSign will recognize the keyword(s) you have selected and ask if you would like to apply the fields from a template directly onto your document.
If you need to upload unique, one-time-use documents when using Foxit eSign and they have a similar format, you can use the feature template rules. For example; pre filled tax forms that need a signature, signer name, address and the fields are always in the same place on the document.
Create and use Template Rules
- Create the template rule from the Templates tab.
- Select a keyword to use. The keyword refers to the file name of the document, it would either contain (option 1) or exactly match (option 2) the file name.
In the example below, the user is prompted to apply fields from a specific template, if the file name uploaded to Foxit eSign Exactly Matches 'Agreement' in our example. Any fields from the template 'Contract' will automatically be applied to the new file.
The example contains two optional use cases of Template Rules
- Select the template you would like to apply the fields from when we use the template rule.
Additional example: If a file name contains W4 (keyword) then apply fields from W4 Form (Template example name). This will add all the fields from this template into the new document each time the keyword is matching when uploading a new document!
Once the document is uploaded from your Home tab and you have assigned your recipient(s), a window will automatically pop up asking if you would like to apply the template field from the template rule you have created.
💡 Did you know? Even with no Template Rule set up, you can manually apply template fields to a document from whichever template you’d like by using the small arrow next to your document’s name on the left side of the application.
